Eagle Exam 2003

(Click images below to view full size)

The specially designed eagle transport box keeps the eagle quiet on the way to the center.  A sheet and/or blanket over its head helps it to keep quiet and calm during the exam.  Safer for us and them.   A thorough exam is given checking for any breaks, bleeding, or other things that are wrong.  Sometimes x-rays are needed to further diagnose the problem.

A close up picture of the talons show why only trained people should try to handle a bird this large.
