In 2004 and 2005 we worked with UW-Green Bay
and their Bear research team. In 2004 our orphan cubs were ear
tagged, while in 2005 they were tagged and fitted with radio collars to
help further follow their movements. The following pictures are of the
2005 release.
The
bears are anesthetized for their safety and ours. Needed data is
collected as quickly as possible to keep stress to a minimum.
The cubs were taken to a
pre-determined release area. In the last photo you can clearly see
the new ear tag and collar this guy sports.
