Black Bear release 2005

In 2004 and 2005 we worked with UW-Green Bay and their Bear research team.  In 2004 our orphan cubs were ear tagged, while in 2005 they were tagged and fitted with radio collars to help further follow their movements.  The following pictures are of the 2005 release.

The bears are anesthetized for their safety and ours.  Needed data is collected as quickly as possible to keep stress to a minimum.

The cubs were taken to a pre-determined release area.  In the last photo you can clearly see the new ear tag and collar this guy sports.
