Program Descriptions

Birdwatching for Tenderfoot families:  45-60 minutes long

            Come to this program to learn how birdwatching can be enjoyed as a

               family.  We will learn how to use binoculars, play a bird guide game

               and hit the Center's trail to use our new skills. 

               Ages 6 yrs and up

               Binoculars and field guides available to borrow during program.

 

Birds of Prey:  30-45 minutes long

            Unique adaptations help these special birds hunt and survive.  Come

               learn about just a few.  Meet one of our resident birds up close and

               personal.

 

Geocaching 101:  60 minutes long

               Looking for a new family activity that involves looking for treasure? 

               Join us to learn the basics of using a GPS unit then learn more about

               Geocaching by searching our woods for treasure.  GPS units available

               to use during program (2 per unit).  $2/person

 

Preschool Story time:  45 minutes long

               Children will listen to wildlife and nature related stories, sing songs

               and/or play a game.  Each session children will get the chance to make

               craft related to the stories.  

 

Owl Pellets:  45 minutes

              Ever wonder what the heck an owl pellet is or for?  Come to this

              program to get your chance to dissect one and learn more about this

              special adaptation. Cost is $2 per pellet.

              Ages 9 and up

 

Turtles:  30-45 minutes long

          Turtles maybe slow, but they aren't boring.  Learn the ins and outs of

             turtles at this program.  Also meet a couple of our resident turtles up

             close and personal.  (Special appearance maybe made by another type

             of reptile.)

 

What's it Like to be a Wildlife Rehabber?:  2 hours long

           Ever wonder how we take care of animals here at the center?  Come to

              this program and learn by using equipment and the methods of wildlife

              rehabbers.  Cost: $3/child   For ages 9 years and up

              You cannot become a wildlife rehabber by just 

           coming to this program.  Parent does not need to

              accompany child.
