Befriend Phoenix!

Injury:  Raised in small cage and severe case of arthritis

Phoenix is a Bald eagle that arrived at NWC on Dec. 22, 1999.  It is believed she had been taken from her nest and kept in a small cage in someone’s basement for seven years.  In 1998 she was discovered and confiscated by the authorities.  She was sent to a rehabilitator in Wisconsin who gradually introduced her to the real world and a real life.  She is unable to be released since she has had no wild experiences and a severe case of arthritis as a result of her inappropriate caging.  Phoenix still has some juvenile voices as she was stunted from her captivity.  She can’t relate to other birds and shies away from other eagles.
